The
primary aim of the B&B Casa Eleonora is that of offering
the guest a place to enjoy the beauties of nature under the
magic spell of a “back in time atmosphere” surrounded by a
completely relaxed and enchanting environment.
Hidden in the heart of a typical mountain territory is ideal
for a restful break from everyday life but at the same time
equipped with every modern comfort
skilfully concealed by the furnishings and by the
elegant and masterly renovation effected through the careful
selection of original furnishing materials dating 1800, era of
construction of the building and the adjacent hayloft “Tabià”.
Somor is a peaceful and characteristic Dolomite village
renowned for having maintained the original features, timber
beams and exposed brick walls, to the buildings of which Casa
Eleonora is an excellent example.
The location, conveniently situated, dominates the whole Biois
valley with its center Falcade surrounded by the peaks : Monti
Pelmo e Civetta, Pale di San Martino, Focobon, Monte Pradazzo,
Cime d’Auta and the Marmolada is an ideal resort for both
summer and winter excursions.
A large
variety of routes (beginners and non) are available for lovers
of mountaineering, trekking
and walking. “Giro delle Coste, an easy pathway to
discover the fractions in the higher part of Falcade leading
to the road for the Marmolada (a level of 3342 meters) the
highest peak of the Dolomites.
The B&B library has a very rich selection of :
geographical atlas, road, ski routes, path maps, and a
variety of books to plan any activity.
For
lovers of winter sports every season is suitable.
During
the winter, Falcade Molino 3 Km from B&B ,
the Skiarea “Tre Valli”
- part of
the Dolomites Superski
– welcomes you to its “Skitour
dell’Amore” area equipped with 27 ski-lifts and 100 Km of
ski-journeys from which is possible to visit the beautiful
Fassa and Fiemme valleys.
Falcade and outskirts offer one of the most extended Dolomite
chains for cross-country skiing (60 chilometers), ice-skating
(natural ice) and considering the ideal environment also
includes ski-mountaineering activities.
Interesting excursions and events are organized using
snowmobile and snowshoes,
at the Passo San Pellegrino can be practiced the amusing snow
tubing. Special consideration must be given to the several
ski-schools each specialized in snowboard, carving, telemark
and cross-country skiing.
During
the summer, a few Km from Malga Ciapela, from the start of the
ski-lift, after just three branches, the glacer of the
Marmolada is of easy reach. The Stadio del Ghiaccio of Alleghe
is open all-year round and besides permitting ice-skating
hosts interesting hockey encounters.
Numerous activities are organized during the summer season in
Val Biois and outskirts.
Special mention goes to the numerous trekking routes and paths
for mountain bikes including a well known italian mountain
bike school.
Other extremely pleasant experiences are ; horse trekking,
free-flying, and fishing the latter can be practiced either
along the Biois river or within
privately owned lakes,
all distant 8 Km from the B&B.
Falcade stands out for its vast variety of
games and recreational activities both for adults and
children including tennis courts, roller blade tracks, bowls
courts and volley.
The public indoor swimming pool (25 mt.) is in Agordo, 20 Km
from B&B.
Worth visiting is the Falcade Alto Church, 500 mt. from
B&B, and the famous Murer Museum, just one of the few
museums left in the Dolomites. Another interesting itinerary
is the visit to Canale d’Argordo, 6 km from B&B,
native village of Pope Giovanni Paolo I, Papa Luciani.
Fishing and boat trips to Alleghe Lake (renowned for hiding
at the bottom of the lake the original village) is possible
within a distance of 15km from, B&B.
Another interesting experience, within short walking
distance of the B&B, is
the visit to the National Park of the Dolomiti
Bellunesi (new
access from the Valle Imperina), to admire the fantastic
example of pre-industrial archeological retrievement. Last but
not least a visit to the Regional Park of Panaveggio and Pale
di San Martino.
